Be A Social Media "Overnight" Success

I was reading this post about letting content sit for 24 hours before publishing and thought it would be perfect for social media efforts too.

Your Twitter and Facebook posts probably won’t be very long, but could they benefit from a 24 hour review?  I think so.  Since they’re shorter I’m not going to make the same assumptions as the blog post did about you being a questionable writer if you have no improvements.  If you find you’re not making changes after 24 hours, you may be on to something good.

One way to measure how your thoughts are received is engagement.  On Facebook it would be Likes and Comments, on Twitter that would be retweets, and on your blog of course comments are great.

If you’re not getting the engagement you want, make sure you give those updates 24 hours.  Then take another look.  You may see the perfect edit that gets people talking.

- Yes, I followed my own advice.  I didn’t post this until 24+ hours after the original draft.  I made six changes before publishing it! -

Let me know in the comments if that worked.
